When will the Cambridge Y open again?

*UPDATE 5/19*: Per Governor Baker’s new Four Phase Approach to reopening Massachusetts, our facility will remain closed through at least Sunday, June 28th. Facilities like ours were placed in Phase 3 of this plan, which is roughly 6 weeks away. We are waiting for updates and clarification with our Preschool and Summer Programs, and we will provide those updates when they become available.

What about my membership or program fees?

We would like sincerely thank you every one of you who sustained their memberships and paid their dues for April. Please see our statement regarding that decision HERE

Because our facility will remain closed on June 1st, we will not be charging membership fees. We will not be charging members for their dues until the Y reopens. Whether your membership is currently on hold, or still active, no action is needed at this time.

Any questions or concerns regarding membership can be emailed to Thank you again to those of you who have chosen to stay with us by continuing to pay your membership dues in April. We have been overwhelmed by your generosity and kindness during this difficult time. Program sessions such as Personal Training, Swimming, and Rock Steady Boxing will be honored when our facility re-opens.

What is the Cambridge Y doing during the closure?

  • Our leadership team is committed to employ and pay ALL of our nearly 100 employees, This includes Full-Time, Part-Time, and Instructors who continue to be the backbone of this organization.
  • We are continuing to have our cleaning crew deep clean the facility. This includes all areas of our facility, including locker rooms, workout areas, studios, etc.
  • Our staff is coming up with plans and strategies for our facility when we are allowed to reopen.
  • We are offering a variety of options for members to virtually access workout classes from their homes, such as live workouts from some of our very own group exercise instructors, all of which can be found HERE
  • We are deepening relationships with our Preschool and After School students remotely through virtual learning activities, keeping our kids connected and engaged even from afar.
  • Offering you updates as to the status of our facility. Please follow us on FacebookTwitter or visit us here for all updates.

How can I help?

We are so humbled and appreciative of those asking us how they can help us as we respond to community needs.

If you're a member, the best way to help us is to continue paying your monthly membership dues, which many of you did for April. No action is required to remain a member. We thank all of you who continued to pay your membership dues!
