COVID-19 FACILITY UPDATE 5/20

CAMBRIDGE Y REMAINS CLOSED IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19 SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS

Wednesday, May 20th 2020

Dear Cambridge Y Community,

As many of you are aware, Governor Baker has outlined his Four Phase Approach to reopening the Commonwealth. While we were hoping to get operations back underway sooner, facilities like ours were placed in Phase 3 of the plan. This tentatively puts our reopening date at Monday, June 29th. We are still seeking guidance and clarification on our childcare programs, such as Preschool and our Summer Program and we will provide updates when this information becomes available.

We miss our Y family and cannot wait to get back to serving you! While we count down the days to reopening, we continue to be focused on our goal to serve our members in the safest ways possible. To do this, we are exploring several options for our reopening plans.

Please know that at the core of our reopening plans will be the guidance provided by the CDC, and the state and local Boards of Health. The guidance provided may have a number of impacts including what aspects of the facility and programming will be available to our membership in each phase of our reopening.

During this prolonged interruption, we have found some creative ways to fulfill our mission of delivering on our three focus areas of healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility to all.

  • We are continuing to offer virtual workouts from a variety of partners for no charge including on-demand workouts and over 20 live classes per week hosted by some of our own group exercise instructors.
  • Our Preschool and After School teachers are regularly reaching out to parents and children with phone calls or virtual meetings to keep kids engaged.
  • We have compiled a long list of virtual resources and learning activities for children to stay engaged while school is out.

Because our facility will remain closed on June 1st, we will not be charging membership fees. Members will not be charged for their dues until the Y reopens. Whether your membership is currently on hold, or still active, no action is needed at this time.

However, if you’re able, and would still like to support our Y, you can make a donation by clicking here. We have been overwhelmed by your generosity and kindness during these tough times!

Please check back here and on our Facebook and Twitter pages for updates and resources during our closure.

In the meantime, stay well, be safe, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need us.

All the best,

Due to Governor Baker extending the stay at home advisory until Monday, May 18th, our facility will remain closed until further notice. We will provide updates on a potential reopening date for our facility when they become available.

Dear Cambridge Y Community,

As we begin week seven of our closure, we are all becoming familiar with working from home, taking virtual classes, and keeping children educated and entertained. Our doors remain closed but we are working diligently to get our facility prepared for the day that we will be able to welcome members again.

Since we closed our doors on March 16th, we have committed to pay all of our staff, which includes full-time, part-time, and instructors, and we will continue to do so throughout the closure. The staff is the reason the Cambridge Y is such a special place. These folks put smiles on members’ faces and help to keep them healthy and fit.

Because our facility will remain closed on May 1st, we will not be charging membership fees. We will not be charging members for their dues until the Y reopens. Whether your membership is currently on hold, or still active, no action is needed at this time.

However, if you’re able, and would still like to support our Y, you can make a donation by clicking the button below. We truly appreciate all your support.

Lastly, we wanted to say thank you again to those of you who have chosen to stay with us by continuing to pay your membership dues this month. We have been overwhelmed by your generosity and kindness during this difficult time.

Please check back here and on our Facebook and Twitter pages for updates and resources during our closure.

Stay well, be safe and reach out if you need us.

Donate to the Y
