Facility
Located in Central Square, the Cambridge Family YMCA is handy for public transportation commuters or those who drive. We are on the Red Line for train service, and buses frequently pass by our Mass. Ave. site. Driving we can be reached via the Mass. Pike, Storrow Drive and Memorial Drive (monthly and yearly parking permits can be purchased). We are in close proximity to the Charles River, which serves as a loop for runners who set out from our Y for a jog. On either side of us in this city is Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Our building has a residence section called Central House, which provides housing to 128 men. We have a full childcare center encompassing preschool, after school and summer vacation programs. In May 2003, the City of Cambridge and the Cambridge Historical Commission presented the YMCA with an award for outstanding achievement in historic preservation for the work completed on Durrell Hall, our lovely Victorian theatre that was officially opened in 1897 and re-dedicated in December 2003. During our first year of operation, we hosted, on many occasions to a full house, a variety of theatrical performances, readings, book signings, concerts and plays. Our fitness facility is open seven days per week, year round. Membership Facilities/Services:
